Cool Nature Experiences

Last summer we photographed this mountain goat in the Beartooth mountains of Wyoming. It was a really great nature experience. Read more about it on our Mountain Goats in the Beartooths page.

Share two of your cool nature experiences.

Your photos are great! Have you considered uploading them to Wikimedia Commons at http://commons.wikimedia.org so they can be used in Wikipedia?

My husband and I paddled a kayak down the Waimea River in Kauai. Large trees on the shore formed a canopy over the river. Yellow flowers from bushes on the shore dropped into the water.

My two greatest experiences in the outdoors were packing into Hell's Canyon with horses. My uncle and I went bear hunting and spent a week in the back country. I had many exciting/challenging experiences. My second greatest experience was getting within 100 hards from some Big Horn sheep this last fall.

While sitting of the deck of our beach house, we noticed an unusual site. After looking closer we realized that it was a seal with one fin extended in the air. At first we were concerned that something was wrong, but discovered from a neighbor that the seal was actually relaxing and 'sailing'!

We had a really cool nature experience visiting the Bighorn sheep feeding station at Sullivan Lake. A couple of huge males stopped eating long enough to scare the heck out of us by running and knocking their heads together within 10 feet of where we were standing. Scary!

I live in Wyoming, however I have not yet seen mountain goats, but I have seen wild horses in the Big Horn Recreation Area near Lovell, watched 2 different herds of Big Horn Sheep and then saw about 10 cross right in front of us. I have also watched moose just standing in the river. Amazing sights...Yellowstone a must see!
